In his opening remarks, State President Quang asserted that over the past 25 years, APEC has shown its dynamism, adaptability and self-transformation to become the premier regional economic forum and a driver of global growth and integration. It has also played a leading role in addressing urgent global challenges.

The Bogor Goals of free and open trade and investment, and support for the multilateral trade system, as well as the growth and connectivity strategies and programs, have provided long-term orientations for APEC’s activities, and unfolded hundreds of concrete areas of cooperation, including the next generation trade and investment issues, he added.

Global agreements, especially the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development have historical meaning with long-term orientation for promoting economic cooperation for sustainable development.

The context requires APEC to affirm and uphold its leading role in seeking for new drivers for growth, trade, investment and connection as well as ways for people to equally get benefits, thus contributing to a peaceful, stable, dynamic, interconnected and prosperous Asia-Pacific.

Viet Nam proposed four priorities including promoting sustainable, creative and inclusive growth, enhancing intensive regional economic connection, increasing competitive and creative capacity of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in the digital era and ensuring food security and sustainable agriculture in response to climate change.
