41st AIPA General Assembly wraps up

VGP – The 41st General Assembly of the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA 41), themed “Parliamentary Diplomacy for a Cohesive and Responsive ASEAN Community”, successfully wrapped up after three days of sitting.

On behalf of the Speaker of the Brunei Legislative Council, the Brunei Ambassador to Viet Nam received a hammer – the AIPA’s symbol – from AIPA 41 Chair Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

Viet Nam’s National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan who is President of the 41st AIPA General Assembly announced that the General Assembly was successfully ended and the agenda was fulfilled. 

Due to complicated developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, the 41st AIPA General Assembly was held online for the first time over the past 43 years of AIPA with the participation of 30 member parliaments and international organizations, nearly 400 delegates. 

Especially, delegates were consensus on an initiative of the Vietnamese National Assembly on the organization of the conference of young AIPA parliamentarians. 

On this occasion, the 41st AIPA General Assembly passed 26 resolutions and a joint Communiqué. 

Chairwoman Ngan stressed that Viet Nam’s diplomatic successes such as ASEAN Chair, AIPA Chair, and a UNSC non-permanent member, and the 41st AIPA General Assembly contributed to raising Viet Nam’s status and reputation in the international arena.

The closing ceremony ended with the transfer of the AIPA chairmanship to Brunei.

On behalf of the Speaker of the Brunei Legislative Council, the Brunei Ambassador to Viet Nam received a hammer – the AIPA’s symbol – from AIPA 41 Chair Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

After the closing ceremony, a press conference announcing outcomes of AIPA 41 was held under the chair of National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, who is also the  Chair of AIPA 41./.
