4th VN- Cambodia defense policy dialogue organized

At the meeting, the two sides discussed the international and regional security and political issues, the cooperative process of the ASEAN Defense Ministers Meeting (ADMM) and the ADMM Plus as well as assessed the outcomes of defense cooperation between the two nations and consented measures to boost cooperation in the years to come. 

They were unanimous in reaching common awareness about strategic issues that affect the two sides’ politics and security, asserting that the two nations should strengthen the bilateral defense cooperation, maintain and consolidate Viet Nam-Cambodia friendship relations and comprehensive cooperation. 

The host and the guest agreed to enhance the effective implementation of the Protocol in 2015-2019 period and the annual cooperative plan, focusing on promoting political works in military and communicating among their staffs and people, especially youth about the friendship ties and solidarity between their armies.    

The two sides will upgrade the border defense exchange to defense ministry level and maintain the defense policy dialogue mechanism, regarding it as the most crucial channel to reach common perceptions of regional security issues, orient cooperative contents, enhance coordination between localities and border armies as well as join hands to ensure border security and safety.   

*The same day, Minister Vinh met with Cambodian Deputy PM, Defense Minister Tea Banh.
