According to the Directive, over the past time, the legal corridor on network safety and security has been gradually perfected. However, the guiding on law enforcement on network safety and security, protection of personal information, protection of children and handling of violation is inadequate.

In 2018, and early 2019, a series of network attacks targeting to steal State secrets have caused serious consequences. Hence, Viet Nam’s ranking in the Global Cyber-security Index (GCI) remains modest. Viet Nam only ranked 50th out of 194 countries and territories and the fifth position out of 11 countries in the Southeast Asian region in the 2017-2018 period.

The PM tasks public agencies, organizations and SOEs to deploy measures to ensure network safety and security and raise Viet Nam’s ranking in the GCI.

Ministries, ministerial-level agencies, SOEs, commercial banks were asked to consolidate units specializing in network information safety to perform tasks and work with the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of National Defense to supervise and share information on network safety.

The Directive noticed the importance of prioritizing domestic products, solutions, and services./.
