A series of large-scale transport projects kicked off in 2008
VNGOP – This year, many large-scale transport projects worth of billions of US dollars will be started, including the Nhật Tân Bridge in Hà Nội and the most modern highway in the South.

According to the Ministry of Transport, in 2008, the US $400 million project on the Nhật Tân Bridge and the US $394 million project on rural transport will be kicked off.
Some other large-scale projects include National Highway 3 from Hà Nội to Thái Nguyên (US $320 million); Belt road 3 in Hà Nội, stage 2 (US $312 million); expansion of National Highway 1 from Mỹ Thuận to Cần Thơ (US $250 million); Đồng Nai Bridge (US $105 million); Vân Phong International Entrepot (US $185.5 million), and Cái Mép-Thị Vải Port (US $185 million).
Notablu, in early January 2008, the Hồ Chí Minh City-Long Thành-Dầu Giây Highway Project, the most modern high-speed route in Việt Nam, was kick-started.
The 55-km highway requires a total investment of VND 9.89 trillion in stage 1.
