ADB pours US $72 mil. for community health in southern Central VN
VGP – The Asia Development Bank (ADB) announced on November 10 a loan worth of US$ 72 million for Việt Nam to improve the public health care systems in the southern central provinces.

The loan, valid for 32 years, is used to sponsor the project on enhancing health services in Đà Nẵng City and seven coastal provinces, including Quảng Nam, Quảng Ngãi, Bình Định, Phú Yên, Khánh Hòa, Ninh Thuận and Bình Thuận.
Under the project, 20 hospitals, five district-level medical centers and a nurse training school will be constructed and upgraded. Some medical establishments will be equipped with clean water supplies, sanitary systems and medical waste treating facilities.
The recruiting and training of medical staff and free-lancers will be also funded with a view to improving health care in 400 remote communes.
Besides, local health care systems will be consolidated and upgraded to provide comprehensive health care service to the poor, women, children, ethnic groups.
The Vietnamese Government pledged to spend US $8 million to complete the partner’s financial requirements.
ADB revealed that it is outlining a program to support Việt Nam’s health sector in 2009.
