ADB-funded project extended

VGP – The Government has agreed to extend the time limit for the implementation of the Northern Power Transmission Expansion Sector Project to June 30, 2014.

The ADB-financed project is divided into two components with eight sub-projects, including the Son La - Hoa Binh - Nho Quan 500 kV Transmission Line, Son La – Soc Son 500 kV Transmission Line, Mong Duong – Quang Ninh 500 kV Transmission Line, Expansion of Thuong Tin 500 kV Substation, and others.

The project aims to support continued rapid economic growth in the Northern Region by meeting the growing demand for electricity.

In addition to improving power supply and reliability in the Northern Region, it also supports power sector reform, including the establishment of a regulator, unbundling of the power sector, and the financial performance of the Executing Agency./.
