ASEAN Foreign Ministers express deep sadness over Beirut Explosion
VGP – Foreign Ministers of 10 ASEAN member States have issued a Statement on the devastating explosion in Beirut, Lebanon on August 4.
The Foreign Ministers are “deeply saddened” by the irreparable loss of lives and extensive damage to property caused by the explosion, read the Statement.
“During this time of grief, ASEAN extends its deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of the Republic of Lebanon as well as the bereaved families who lost their loved ones and those who have been affected by this tragic incident,” according the Statement.
The regional Foreign Ministers expressed their hopes that the Government and people of the Republic of Lebanon will find the strength to overcome and recover from this tragedy soon.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to provide consular assistance to nationals from ASEAN in Lebanon in accordance with the appropriate ASEAN guidelines./.
