Agriculture export reaches $ 2.7 bil. in early months of 2007

VNGOP – Since the early 2007, export turnover of agro-forestry products has reached nearly US$ 3.7 billion, increasing by 29% against the same period of last year. The values were US$ 2.7 billion and US$ 1 billion for agricultural and forestry products respectively.

Coffee – a product with high export turnover

Coffee is the top export gaining US$ 1.1 billion, accounting for 42% of the total turnover of agricultural products.

Rubber, cashew-nut, pepper see an increase of 8-27% against the same period of 2006, reaching US$ 433 million, US$ 197 million and US$ 110 million respectively.

Rice remains one major exports of Vietnam, with 1.8 million tons exported in the first five months of 2007. However, due to a decrease of 21% compared to last year, the export turnover of this product was nearly US$ 580 million.
