Pham Thanh Truc, deputy head of the management board of Ho Chi Minh City's export processing and industrial zone (HEPZA) said that 1,307 factories have re-opened, accounting for more than 92 percent while almost all 85 enterprises at high-tech parks in Thu Duc City have resumed operation, reaching 100 percent.

More than 230,000 among 320,000 workers at IPs under HEPZA and hi-tech parks have come back to work, making up 70 percent.

During the social distancing period, 750 manufacturing plants maintained their operation in form of “three on-site” measures, meaning staff must work, eat/drink and rest on-site, with the participation of nearly 71,000 laborers, said Pham.

The Ho Chi Minh City Federation of Labor announced that it has spent over VND1.39 trillion (US$60.4 million) as relief aid for 2.4 million trade union members, workers, civil servants, laborers and their children affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in the city.
