The ASEM Workshop on sharing experiences of preparedness in response to the global climate change and emerging diseases, Hà Nội, November 5, 2009
The workshop was co-organized by Việt Nam and Hungary with the attendance of more than 200 policy-makers and scientists from ASEM members, international organizations, ministries, agencies and institutes.

This is a good forum for ASEM members to exchange and share information about impacts of climate change on environment and community health as well as solutions to deal with the effects.

The workshop placed focus on two major issues: Evaluating the situation of climate change and emerging diseases; and responses to climate change and emerging diseases. Besides, supervision over negative impacts of climate change on health in Việt Nam is also mentioned.

Through the workshop, scientists hoped that Việt Nam will pay more attention to improving awareness for those having influence on climate change-related health policies, such as politicians, specialists, professionals and vulnerable groups.

In the framework of the workshop, Việt Nam introduced its “National Goal Program in Response to Climate Change” worth of VND 1,965 billion. The program is aimed at setting up science and technology programs on climate change, establishing regulations and policies on climate change, improving awareness and developing human resources.
