The Ministry of Finance is in charge of signing the agreement with the Austrian side and gives instructions on the implementation of the project.

The project, started in 2001, uses US $5.8 million in preferential credits of the Austrian Government. Under the project, 22 fire engines, 34 fire pumps and 14 tool sets have been handed over to Vietnam.

After the success of the first phase, the Government has allowed the Ministry of Public Security to implement the second phase valued at US $15.9 million, which is divided into 6 sub-projects.

Sub-projects No. 1, 2, 3, 4 have been completed, supplying 37 fire engines, 2 concrete pump trucks with tower cranes, 3 rescue and rapid response vans and other fire extinguishing equipment to the Vietnam Fire Brigade.
