Average CPI in 10 months lowest in three years
VGP – The average Consumer Price Index (CPI) over the recent 10 months of 2019 rose 2.48% compared to the same period last year, the lowest figure recorded over the recent three years, according to the General Statistics Office.

Meanwhile, the CPI in October picked up 0.59% against the previous month, the highest figure over the recent three months and increased 2.79% compared to December 2018 and up 2.24% in comparison with the same period last year.
As many as 10 items reported increases in prices in comparison with the previous month including restaurants and food services 1.04%, beverage and tobacco 0.04%, garments, hats and footwear 0.06%, housing and building materials 0.53%, household equipment 0.09%, medicines and health services 0.04%, transport 0.99%, education 0.19%, culture, entertainment and tourism 0.12%, other commodities and services 0.17%.
Only the price of post and telecommunications deceased by 0.06%.
The core inflation (excluding food, energy and items under control of the State such as health and education services) in October 2019 saw an increase of 0.15% against the previous month and year-on-year increase of 1.99%.
The core inflation rate witnessed a year-on-year increase of 1.92% over the past10 months of 2019.
