British COVID-19 patient’s pulmonary embolism rate lowered to nearly 80%

At a diagnosis session on May 19, a representative of the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Ho Chi Minh City, where the 43-year-old man is being treated, reported that the patient currently has no fever and has been dependent on the Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) for 43 days.

Thus far, Patient 91 has tested negative for the coronavirus five times in a row (11 consecutive days), and has now stopped using chest drains.

However, the patient’s viral inactivation results have not yet been available.

The infection situation of the patient has been somewhat controlled by the use of antibiotics. His lungs have now improved, with the rate of pulmonary embolism going down to nearly 80% instead of 90% as previously.

Giving additional details concerning the health condition of the British pilot, a representative of Cho Ray Hospital said that the patient’s pleural effusion still remains and does not improve much compared to the previous checkups.

In addition, the results of brain CT scans showed no suspected damage as cerebral infarction or hemorrhage./.
