Busan urged to facilitate overseas Vietnamese community’s operation

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted a reception for Mayor of Busan Metropolitan City Oh Keo-don on November 25 in Ha Noi.

PM Phuc expressed the pleasure to visit Busan Metrololitan City, which is the second biggest economic center and the largest port city in the Republic of Korea. 

He congratulated the city on its positive achievements attained over the past time. A large number of Vietnamese people and investors want to visit and experience outstanding successes of Busan city. 

PM Phuc highly praised the Mayor, local administration and people of Busan for their determination and effort to host the 2019 ASEAN-Republic of Korea (RoK) Commemorative Summit, hoping that the event would make important contributions to the better cooperation between the RoK and ASEAN member states, image promotion and enhancement of international status of Busan. 

Mayor Oh Keo-don said that the city extremely expects to boost cooperation with ASEAN member states including Viet Nam. He also expressed the aspiration to boost local linkages including HCMC and spur business cooperation in fields of strength. 

According to the Government, the RoK-ASEAN Invest which will be held on the sidelines of the Summit would cover gastronomy booths. 

He went on to say that Busan has planned to name an avenue as ASEAN which is closed to a newly inaugurated ASEAN cultural center.  

PM Phuc applauded the initiatives and praised Busan for its determination to boost local ties with Vietnamese peers. The PM took the occasion to call on the local authorities to facilitate overseas Vietnamese community. 

He affirmed that the Vietnamese Government would also create favorable ways for Korean citizens to stay and live in Viet Nam. 

PM Phuc also suggested Busan and Vietnamese localities conduct various practical people-to-people exchange activities. 

Regarding economic field, there are wide doors for Viet Nam and the RoK to tap especially in trade and investment. He proposed the two countries strive for US$ 100 billion two-way trade turnover next year. 

The Government leader also suggested the Busan administration pay favorable ways and enable aviation airlines launch direct routes which connect Busan and Da Nang cities in line with the RoK President’s New Look South Policy./.
