COVID-19 patient tally surpasses 1,000

VGP – Viet Nam’s COVID-19 patient tally surpassed 1,000 after confirmation of 14 new cases on Thursday afternoon.

The latest cases include 11 in Da Nang and two imported ones, according to the National Steering Committee for COVID19 Prevention and Control.

Specifically, patients 994-998 and 1,001-1,006 are residents of Da Nang, aged from 24-65. They include six caretakers, one health worker and one patient at the Da Nang Hospital and Da Nang Oncology Hospital. The other three came in contact with persons who later tested positive for the virus.

Patient 999 is a 26-year old man from Duy Xuyen District, Quang Nam Province.

He is the husband of patient 755 and brother-in-law of patient 671.

Patient 1,000 is a 33-year old Filipino man. He is an expert landing in Cam Ranh airport on August 14 on flight OZ773 from the Republic of Korea.

He is being treated at the Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Khanh Hoa Province.

Patient 1,007 is a 27-year old man in Ho Chi Minh City.

He was among passengers onboard the flight VN6 from Equatorial Guinea.

Among 1007 COVID-19 patients confirmed so far, 542 have recovered and 25 others died of the virus and other diseases./.
