Cabinet convenes July meeting, public debt restructuring among key topics

VGP – Restructuring of public debts and State budget is among key topics of the Cabinet meeting convened Thursday under the chair of Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc.

The Government will review the implementation of Resolution 01/NQ-CP and pilot mechanisms and policies in the central city of Da Nang and debate amendments and supplements to the Resolution 51/NQ-CP on restructuring the State budget and public debts.

The Cabinet will also seek ways to resolve difficulties arising in the enforcement of the Forestry Law and Directive 13-CT/TW of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat on forest management, protection, and development.

The master plan for socio-economic development in mountainous and disadvantaged areas will also be brought to discussion at the meeting.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment reported that the socio-economic performance in January-July period continued with positive trend.

The consumption price index (CPI) saw a month-on-month increase of 0.18% in July and a year-on-year growth of 2.61% in the first seven months is the record low over the last three years.

Industrial production index (IPI) jumped 9.4% of which manufacturing and processing industry surged by 10.7%.

The amount of FDI disbursement valued US$ 10.6 billion, representing a year-on-year growth of 7.1%.

Over 79,000 enterprises were established while 24,300 others resumed operation, up nearly 30%.

In January-July period, total retail sales of goods and services increased by 11.6%. and number of foreign arrivals bounced back, touching 1.3 million in July and 9.8 million in the first seven months.

Export turnover hit over US$ 145 billion, up 7.5%.

Besides the positive outcomes, there were some shortcomings and challenges including prolong hot weather, droughts in some localities, the African swine fever outbreaks, declining export of agricultural products, and cultural and social issues./.
