Cao Bằng strives to be a fairly developed province by 2020

VNGOVNet – This is a target set in Decision 282/2006/QĐ-TTg dated on December 20 by the Prime Minister approving the Overall Planning Scheme on Socio-economic Development of Cao Bằng Province in the period 2006-2020.

This northern border province strives to gain a per capita GDP of over US$600 by 2010 and US$ 1,600 by 2020.

Agro-forestry and fishery: Developing wet rice and hybridized maize; creating key produce (sugarcane, soya bean, tobacco) through intensive cultivation and increased productivity; planting fruit trees (pear, plum, orange, tangerine, seedless persimmon), promoting the breeding of buffalos, goats, pigs and poultry in farms and households;

Industry and construction: Building the Đề Thám, Chu Trinh, and Phục Hòa industrial parks;

Trade and service: Giving priority to the Tà Lùng Border-gate and general trade and service centers; attracting more investments; boosting commodity circulation between Cao Bằng and the whole country and China as well;

Education and training: Finishing the generalization of junior secondary education by 2008; establishing the Cao Bằng University from the province’s Teachers Training College, Medical High School and Agro-forestry High School;

Public healthcare: Upgrading the Provincial Polyclinic; building the Western Polyclinic in Bảo Lạc District;

Infrastructure: Speeding up the improvement and upgradation of National Highways 3, 4A, 34, and 4C; constructing the electric line 110 kV from Lạng Sơn to Cao Bằng.

The Tà Lùng Border-gate will be upgrade to an international one, Trà Lĩnh and Sóc Giang to become national border-gates. Investments will be made in the construction of the towns of Đàm Thủy, Trường Hà and Phia Đén.
