China continues slander tone, VN gains more support

VGP – The more China releases fabricated information to slander or even intimidate Viet Nam, the more support Viet Nam gains from the international community.

Recently Chinese Foreign Ministry posted an article on operation of the oil rig Haiyang Shiyou 981 – Viet Nam’s provocation and China’s stance. China also sent a letter to UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to state its stance on the operation of the rig and demanded the Secretary General to inform the letter to 193 UN members. The two documents have the same tone of slandering and accusing Viet Nam.

Meanwhile, the whole world knows that since May 2, 2014, China illegally moved its oil rig escorted with more than 100 ships, including military ones, into Viet Nam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.

It seems that China looses all sense of shame when it tries to create a fabricated story while the peace-lovers around the world are expressing their grave concern for what China is doing in the East Sea. China should ask themselves why no country supports its stance instead of bullying Viet Nam.

Viet Nam has communicated with China for more than 30 times but China’s response is not like the behavior of a member of the United Nations Security Council. China has been slandering and blaming Viet Nam while continuing to escalate its increasingly dangerous and serious acts of violation.

In response to the recent escalation of violence perpetrated by China against Vietnamese territory and vessels in the East Sea, the International Association of Democratic Lawyers (IADL) has sent a letter to Chinese authorities to request China to explain clearly why it placed the oil rig Haiyang Shiyou 981 into Viet Nam’s exclusive economic zone and continental shelf.

China also needs to clarify the number of vessels, aircrafts, military vessels deployed near drilling rig and provocative actions such as ramming, firing water cannon at Vietnam law enforcement vessels, which caused craft damage and posed risks of casualties as well as attacks on Vietnamese fishing vessels since May 7, 2014.

The IADL urged China to respect international law to cease and refrain from complicating the situation in the East Sea and escalating tension in the region for such doing would pose a threat to security and navigation safety in the East Sea./.
