Complete Buddhist-sutra block dossier quickened

A wood block of Vĩnh Nghiêm pagoda

The collection of wood blocks in Vĩnh Nghiêm pagoda comprises 34 books with over 3,000 wood blocks with the largest being 1 meter in length and 40-50 cm in width. These wood blocks are carved with Buddhist prayer-books of Thiền Viện Trúc Lâm School.

The collection of wood blocks of Buddhist prayer-books, Việt Nam’s treasure, is preserved well at Vĩnh Nghiêm pagoda.

Since 2008, the Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism of Bắc Giang has inventoried, numbered and translated the wood blocks, and drafted a scientific dossier on those blocks for submitting it to the UNESCO for recognition as a World Documentary Heritage./.
