The groundbreaking ceremony of two section construction projects under Dong Dang-Tra Linh expressway connecting two Northern mountainous provinces of Lang Son and Cao Bang is held on October 3, Cao Bang Province.

The two section construction projects, namely Doong Leng-Dong Khe Town and Thuy Hung-Van Trinh, are 10km in length.

Earlier in August 2020, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc approved the investment plan of the Dong Dang-Tra Linh expressway in the form of public-private partnership (PPP) with total investment capital of nearly VND21 trillion.

The 115-km four-lane expressway connects the northern mountainous provinces of Lang Son and Cao Bang with the scale of four lanes and the maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour.

The project is divided into two phases, with the first, from 2020-2024, running from the Tan Thanh border gate in Lang Son Province to Phuc Sen Commune, Quang Hoa District, Cao Bang Province, and the second, after 2025, from Quang Hoa District to the Tra Linh border gate in Cao Bang Province.

Once the expressway is completed, time travel from Cao Bang Province to the capital city of Ha Noi will be cut by half from 6-7 hours to only three and a half hours.

It will also form an expressway crossing Viet Nam-China border lines, facilitating economic growth and promoting exports of Viet Nam’s farm products to China.

Cao Bang has a border line of over 333 kilometers, with 634 marks, 3 main pairs of gates, 3 secondary pairs of gates, and one entrance bordering the Zhuang Autonomous Region, China.

The province is regarded as an important gateway, linking ASEAN nations with China, with the exported commodities through border gates worth more than US$3 billion.
