Construction of Hồ Chí Minh’s Monument begins in Laos

VGP – The construction of Vietnamese President Hồ Chí Minh’s Monument in Khammouane province, Laos began on Wednesday morning.

Participants to the ground-breaking ceremony included Khammouane Vice Chairman Somchay Phetsinuon, Deputy Head of the Party Central Committee Office Souvandy Sysavath, and Director of Việt Nam’s Hồ Chí Minh Museum Chu Đức Tính.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Souvandi Sisavath said President Hồ Chí Minh’s Monument is a meaningful work in terms of politics and cultural identities of the two nations.

He stressed that President Hồ Chí Minh is a great leader of both Vietnamese and Lao peoples. Thus, the construction project aims to commemorate and pay tribute to his great contributions to revolutionary movement in Việt Nam and Laos.

Covering an area of 1,5 ha, the VND 35 billion project is expected to be complete within 12 months.
