Former Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung and Republic of Korea’s Ambassador to Viet Nam Park Noh Wan attended the event.

The first phase of the Hai Lang LNG power plant has total investment capital of VND54 trillion (or US$2.3 billion) jointly invested by Viet Nam’s conglomerate T&T Group, Korea Gas Corporation (KOGAS), Hanwha Energy Corporation, and Korea Southern Power (KOSPO).

The project, which spans 120ha, is located in Hai Lang district's Hai An and Hai Ba communes.

The project would include an LNG port capable of handling LNG carriers ranging in size from 170,000 to 226,000 cubic meters, carrying 1.5 million tons of LNG per year, and Hai Lang Power Centre phase 1 with a capacity of 1,500MW.

The projects aims to ensure national energy security and make contribution to reach the nation’s net-zero carbon emission target by 2050 as committed at the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26).
