Consumption Stimulus Fair held

VGP - Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Industry and Trade played host to the 2020 Consumption Stimulus Fair as the event kicked off on July 2 to boost demand that has taken a hit from the COVID-19 pandemic.

At the launch ceremony for the event

The fair featured 500 booths showcasing consumer products, agricultural goods, foods, and export items.

There will be promotional and discount programmes to stimulate consumption and help firms liquidate their stocks.

Deputy director of Sai Gon Food Company Le Thi Thanh Tam said her company would offer promotions of up to 50% and free trials of goods.

Director of K&K Fashion Le Viet Thanh said while major annual promotional programmes always attract a lot of customers, many shops mark up prices before them or sell old, counterfeit and poor-quality goods products that disappoint users.

The department therefore needs to strictly control the quality of products to be sold at the fair and take severe action against businesses that violate buyers’ trust, he said.

The site has been divided into two main areas, including the Ho Chi Minh City enterprise pavilion which puts key products on display, market stabilization products, and prestigious enterprise products from various city associations and provinces' pavilions.

Moreover, a concentrated promotion area that aims to encourage businesses to participate in promotion schemes in order to stimulate consumption and help them liquidate their stocks has also been set up for guests.

During his opening speech, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Do Thang Hai stated his belief that the fair will help boost the economic recovery of the southern metropolis whilst simultaneously promoting the domestic consumption market.

In addition, it will allow free participation for businesses at the 2020 Consumption Stimulus Fair from July 2 to 5 in Thu Duc District.
