DPM Minh holds bilateral meetings at APEC Economic Leaders’ Week

VGP – Deputy PM and FM Pham Binh Minh held bilateral meetings with New Zealand Deputy PM and FM, Winston Peters, and Papua New Guinean FM, Rimbink Pato, on November 9, within the framework of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week 2017 in Da Nang city.

During the meeting with the New Zealand official, the two sides expressed their pleasure at the strong developments in Viet Nam-New Zealand comprehensive partnership, as well as the effective cooperation between the two Foreign Ministries.

Deputy PM Winston Peters affirmed his close coordination in the implementation of the Viet Nam-New Zealand Action Program for 2017-2020 signed on this occasion, aiming to develop bilateral relations in a deeper and more solid and stable fashion in the time ahead. 

He suggested that both sides facilitate cooperation in the fields of strength, such as trade, education, labor, tourism and health, in order to soon bring bilateral ties to a new height.

Deputy PM Minh asked New Zealand to continue to provide technical assistance and create favorable conditions for Viet Nam’s farm produce to go into the New Zealand market.

The two sides also discussed a number of regional and international issues of mutual concern, whilst agreeing to continue coordinating closely together, especially within the frameworks of ASEAN’s mechanisms, aiming to contribute to maintaining regional peace and stability.

On behalf of the two Governments, the two Deputy PMs signed the Viet Nam-New Zealand Action Program for 2017-2020.

* Meeting with Papua New Guinean FM, RimbinkPato, Deputy PM Minh spoke highly of Papua New Guinea’s support and close coordination in the Viet Nam APEC Year 2017, whilst affirming Viet Nam’s willingness to support and share experience so that Papua New Guinea will successfully organize the APEC Year 2018.

The two sides agreed to continue fostering their close coordination, aiming to further accelerate the exchange of high-level visits and the people-to-people exchange, as well as cooperation in the fields of agriculture, rice, fishery, fishing and the planting and processing of industrial crops.

Minister Rimbink Pato pledged to discuss with relevant agencies of Papua New Guinea on the issues, whilst asking both sides to facilitate discussion on the possibility of bilateral cooperation in fishing.
