Deputy PM Phạm Gia Khiêm calls for further social involvement in educational development and more investment in tertiary education
VNGOVNet – In line with its commitment to WTO, Vietnam has adopted the policy of keeping its educational market widely open to foreign investment. The country has opened most of its educational fields, including natural sciences, technology, business management, economics, accounting, international laws and linguistics. Tertiary education is considered as the most open field with a proper integration roadmap.

So stressed Deputy PM Phạm Gia Khiêm at the International Forum on "WTO accession and renewal of Vietnam’s tertiary education" held on December 11.
The Forum was a good opportunity for domestic and foreign managers, scientists, teachers, and researchers to share their knowledge and understanding about WTO and the General Agreement on Trade and Services (GATS); clearly point out impacts caused by WTO/GATS commitments on tertiary education; and identify various issues in national policies and academic administration. On this basis, they could set up measures to realize the commitments with the view to helping Vietnamese education catch up with that in the world’s developed countries.
Mentioning development and integration in tertiary education in the time to come, Mr. Phạm Gia Khiêm affirmed that the Vietnamese Government will further invest and promote social involvement in educational development, mobilize domestic resources and attract foreign investment into tertiary education. At the same time, more opportunities will be created for the development of tertiary education. Access to modern educational knowledge, content, programs and technologies will be widened for teachers and students. An environment of competition will be created in order to stimulate Vietnamese tertiary education establishments in efforts to improve their training quality and efficiency.
