Since the COVID-19 outbreaks, ministries, agencies and scientists have studied and successfully isolated and grown the virus in laboratory conditions.

They have also successfully manufactured test kits and gradually improved therapy for COVID-19 patient treatment, making effective contributions to the virus containment over the past months, said Dam, who is head of the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.

Earlier the Company for Vaccine and Biological Production No.1 (VABIOTECH) announced it had tested COVID-19 vaccine on mice before further evaluation.

Dr. Do Tuan Dat, VABIOTECH President said the vaccine has been developed in collaboration with with scientists from the UK Bristol University since the very first COVID-19 infection case was confirmed in Viet Nam.

The company’s scientists successfully grew the COVID-19 antigen in the lab, which is the most important ingredient in vaccine production, Dat said.

Viet Nam has confirmed 271 COVID-19 infection cases to date, of whom 131 are imported cases.

As many as 232 patients have recovered, accounting for 86% of the patient tally./.
