The gathering brought together Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Duc Phat, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Nguyen Minh , leaders from ministries, localities and corporations whose business is related to forestry.

Deputy PM Ninh stressed that land must be managed through ownership and master plans in line with the management, use and development of forests during the course of maintaining and establishing large-scale agro-forestry regions.

He asked the participants to seek solutions so as to create fundamental changes in business management and production planning, specifying that the relations between residents and businesses should be enhanced to create a stimulus to development.

Deputy PM Ninh also suggested the Party’s leadership in innovating agro-forestry companies should be strengthened.

To realize the Politburo’s resolution, PM Nguyen Tan Dung signed a decision on the Government’s plan on implementing the resolution in May.

Accordingly, the plan aims to improve the companies’ management over land and forest resources; enhance land use effectiveness; maintain and develop centralized good production regions which are linked with material regions, processing industry and the market while boosting the connectivity between agro-forestry companies with farmer households and other local economic sectors.

The plan also focuses on improving the forest management and policies related to science, technology, finance and labour.

The implementation of the Politburo’s resolution and the Government’s plan is significant in improving the performance and effectiveness of agro-forestry companies, which are using eight million ha of forest land but their operation is still weak and unresponsive to the potential.
