Deputy PM orders EPC contract signed soon for expanded Uông Bí 2 power plant

VNGOVNet – Considering the proposal of the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) and the Ministry of Industry, on behalf of the PM, Standing Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng gave a direction regarding the EPC contract for the expanded Uông Bí 2 thermoelectricity plant.

January 16, 2007 11:07 AM GMT+7

Standing Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng ordered the EVN to promptly negotiate with the LILAMA Corporation to sign the contract. If the negotiation is unsuccessful, a bid will be organized to select a contractor.

The expanded Uông Bí 2 Thermoelectricity Plant, invested by the EVN, has a cost of US$ 344 million and a capacity of 300 MW. The project will be carried out under an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract.

After three years of construction, in December 2006, the expanded Uông Bí 1 Thermoelectricity Plant (stage 1) was officially hooked to the national grid, contributing to easing the electricity thirst in the dry season 2007.

The expanded Uông Bí 2 Thermoelectricity Plant is planned to enter operation in 2009.
