Deputy PM receives foreign garment companies

VNGOP – Standing Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng in Hanoi on April 17 received a delegation of foreign garment and textile companies who are attending the 17th International Vietnam Fabric and Garment Accessories Expo 2007 in Hanoi.

On behalf of 21 leaders of foreign garment firms, Mr. Andrew Kay, General Director of the CP Exhibition Hong Kong Company, informed the Deputy PM about the expo scope and activities as well as targets and cooperation plans of these companies in Vietnam.

At the meeting, most of the foreign garment companies expressed their wish to thoroughly survey Vietnam's garment and textile market. They were convinced that the country's potential for cooperation in garment and textile industry is great. Many of them want to found strategic partnership with Vietnamese companies.

The International Vietnam Fabric and Garment Accessories Expo 2007 attracts more than 220 garment and textile enterprises from 24 countries. The expo aims to call for foreign investors and garment companies to enter Vietnamese market; transfer advanced garment and textile technologies to Vietnam; help Vietnamese textiles and garments penetrate into the world market, and encourage enterprises from different countries, including China, Japan, Belgium, Italy to found their long-term cooperation with Vietnamese partners.

Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng asserted that it is necessary for foreign garment companies to promote cooperation with Vietnam because the country is endowed with a large contingent of young and skilled laborers. Besides, through Vietnam, foreign enterprises can penetrate into the bigger Asian markets.

The Deputy PM suggested Vietnamese garment sector to collaborate with foreign counterparts in cultivating cotton, making textiles and fashion products, building up big fashion centers, and training skilled human resource. He aslo encouraged foreign garment companies to open their factories in Vietnam.
