The Government chief made the request on March 4 in Ha Noi while chairing a video teleconference on urgent measures to control VSFV outbreak.

PM Phuc stressed that Vietnamese breeding method is different from other countries. Viet Nam has 2.5 million households who breed 49% of the total pig number. In addition, over 10,000 farms have the rest of pigs. Pork meat makes up over 70% of the total meat in the country.

Hence, the PM highlighted the necessity to take drastic measures to control and put an end to the outbreak. He mentioned the lesson of China which was able to control up to 90% of the outbreak.

The whole political system, sectors, enterprises, and farmers were asked to seriously implement Directive 04/CT-TTg, dated February 20, 2019 on synchronously urgent measures to control VSFV outbreak.

The PM also tasked his inferiors to disseminate accurate outbreak information to prevent public concerns./.
