Accordingly, five old buildings have received awards, including Mong Phu Village Gate, On Pagoda, Giang Van Minh worship-house, Nguyen Van Hung old house and Ha Van Vinh old house.

Addressing the award ceremony, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Dang Thi Bich Lien spoke highly of the project to preserve Duong Lam village, saying it has contributed to improving living conditions of local people.

Katherine Muller Marin, Head of the UNESCO office in Ha Noi, said the successful conservation of five buildings under the project has brought back the real appearance of Duong Lam village, ensuring that the structures are regularly maintained by the artisans.

The UNESCO Asia-Pacific Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation was initiated in 2000 to recognize the efforts of individuals and organizations in heritage restoration and preservation.

A similar award was presented to other preservation projects in Viet Nam: a lost bomb shelter at Sofitel Legend Metropole Hotel Ha Noi (2013); Tang family chapel (2009); ancient Viet house (2004); and Hoi An ancient town (2000)./.
