EVN licensed to offer telecom services

VNGOVNet – The Government Office addressed on December 29, 2006 a letter coded 7647/VPCP-CN to the ministries of Post and Telematics, Industry and the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), transmitting PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng’s direction that difficulties be removed in licensing EVN Telecom to operate in telecommunications.

January 03, 2007 10:08 AM GMT+7

The PM allowed EVN Telecom to use 1900 MHz frequency for 3G mobile systems in line with the International Telecommunication Union’s standards. Within the first quarter of 2007, EVN Telecom must complete assessing its trial run of WIMAX service as the basis for licensing this service and others offered by EVN Telecom subsidiaries, including fixed telephone and channel lease services under the current stipulations.
