Encouraging Shanghai firms to invest in VN

VGP - While visiting Chinese leading firms in Shanghai on May 1, PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng wished them stronger development and closer cooperation with Việt Nam which is encouraging foreign companies to jump in producing electronic, electrical and telecommunications equipment.

PM Nguyễn Tấn Dũng visited ZTE, one of the world’s 100 biggest telecommunications companies, and the Shanghai Electric Group, one of the largest mechanical and equipment manufacturers in China.

ZTE, which currently has cooperative ties with 500 network companies in 135 countries and made revenues of US $89.9 billion in 2009, has cooperated with Vietnamese telecommunications enterprises since 1998. It is actively implementing projects in the fields of communications, railway signals and 3G networks in Việt Nam.

Meanwhile, the Shanghai Electric Group, the producer of high-capacity nuclear power and thermoelectric equipment, has successfully invested in Việt Nam with contracts’ total value of US $2.1 billion. It has involved in the development of some power plants, including the ongoing construction of Vĩnh Tân 2 Thermoelectric Plant in the northern province of Quảng Ninh.
