This is the first cooperative program between Facebook and a local authority in Viet Nam, which includes training courses for the city’s agencies to improve the capacity of using Facebook as an effective and fast information channel within the authority and the local people.

Within the framework of the program, Facebook made its first introduction of the “community data”, which consists of a population density map and a disaster map in Viet Nam.

Speaking at the event, director for public policy in the Facebook Viet Nam said that the cooperation between Facebook and Da Nang aims to consolidate the commitments to accelerating positive social impacts in Viet Nam through advanced technology, helping Viet Nam achieve the goal of becoming a digital country.

Tran Quang Hoai, General Director of the Viet Nam Disaster Management Authority (VDMA), said that the VDMA has joined hands with the Facebook to launch training courses for nearly 400 staffs on using the Facebook to cope with natural disaster.

He highly spoke of the support of the Facebook in assisting staff in effectively using the social network to update information to timely help the local people affected by natural disasters.

The city now has 847 online public services, accounting for 65% of the total administrative procedures and is launching the smart city master plan to synchronously connect with the domestic and regional smart city networks.
