Financial mechanism for clean water program ratified
VGP – Deputy PM Hoang Trung Hai approved the financial mechanism for the Red River Delta Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project in eight Red River Delta provinces, which is sponsored by the World Bank.
The Ministry of Finance will cooperate with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and relevant provinces and cities to realize the project.
The project had its first phase, from 2005 to 2010, implemented in Hai Duong, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh and Thai Binh.
The second phase, from 2008 to 2013, is being carried out in Ha Noi, Quang Ninh, Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Bac Ninh, Hung Yen, Ha Nam and Thanh Hoa.
The project aims to fund the sustainable and sufficient supply of clean water to local communities, assist households to upgrade sanitation and raise people’s awareness of the use of clean water and sanitation.
It also works to enhance communal authorities’ capacity in designing plans, managing infrastructure projects and facilitating the implementation of community initiatives in the field.
