The two-hectare factory with an investment of US $46.6 million in the Sài Gòn Hi-Tech Park is the Italian firm’s first facility in Asia  and supposed to yearly manufacture some one million bar-code readers of various kinds, including fixed and portable ones.

The products will be exported to the US market in the first three years. Its export turnover is estimated at US $200 million in 2014.

Datalogic Scanning is planning to establish a research and development center in Việt Nam. The group intends to set aside 6% of its revenue for researching and developing products.

Datalogic Scanning will buy printed circuit boards from Jabil Circuit Việt Nam Company, DC brushless motors from Nidec, and plastic molded parts from Allied.
