First sea transport service launched between Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu and US

VGP - Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (K Line), a Japanese shipping company, dispatched on Tuesday the vessel Verrazano Bridge with the load of over 54,500 tons to the SP-PSA International Port (Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu Province). The ship will serve the direct cargo transport between Việt Nam and the eastern coast of the US.

The Ship Verrazano Bridge arrives at the SP-PSA International Port

Verrazano Bridge and other seven vessels of CKYH Alliance (Coscon, K-Line, Yang Ming, and Hanjin Shipping) will run in line with a weekly itinerary through the ports of Singapore, Cái Mép, Shekou, Hong Kong, Yantian, Norfolk, New York, Halifax and back to Singapore.

Hanjin Shipping opened the direct sea route from Tân Cảng-Cái Mép Port (Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu) to Japan and the US West Coast in June this year.

SP-PSA International Port is a joint venture between the Sài Gòn Port Company and the Port of Singapore Authority (PSA International).

The deep-water harbor was inaugurated on May 29. Its current capacity of 1.1 million TEU per year will be doubled after the two phases of construction are finished.

Tân Cảng – Cái Mép Port, another deep-water harbor in Bà Rịa–Vũng Tàu, has the capacity of 650,000 TEU per year.
