For more transparent budget management

VNGOP – Next year, with supports from the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ), the Vietnamese Ministry of Finance (MoF) is going to continue macro-economic and financial renovations, focusing on amending the Law on State Budget; building and applying a new budget index; and renewing budget management.

As part of the technical cooperation program between Việt Nam and Germany, Head of the MoF’s Department of State Budget Huỳnh Quang Hải and và GTZ Chief Advisor Ulrike Meanner inked on December 19 in Hà Nội an agreement on the working plan and cooperation activities in 2008 to realize the Macro-economic Renovation Program for Public Finance.

A €1.3 million sum will be granted for the Program’s component II. Next year, the MoF will boost financial and budget reforms, focusing on amending the Law on State Budget; building and applying a new budget index; renewing budget management; and implementing the Strategy for State Treasury Development to 2020.

According to Deputy Minister of Finance Trần Văn Tá, through the technical cooperation program, the MoF’s staff will access to the world’s advanced practices and standards to manage budgets in a more transparent way.
