November 26, 2006 9:27 AM GMT+7

Minister Cao Đức Phát in NA interpellation

Answering the question how WTO will affect Vietnamese agriculture, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Cao Đức Phát said that by joining WTO, agricultural produce and commodities will become more valuable due to increased export. However, they also stand vulnerable to complicated price fluctuations. According to him, to improve the agriculture sector’s competitiveness and assist farmers in dealing with difficulties and doing successful business amidst international integration, it is necessary to take consistent measures. Top investment priorities should be given to scientific-technological development, infrastructure building, services, and information in rural areas in order to raise agricultural productivity, quality and competitiveness. The State should perfect the system of laws and create an open legal corridor to stimulate farmers' and enterprises' investment in production and business in the field of agriculture.

Ministers of Finance Vũ Văn Ninh in NA interpellation

Minister of Finance Vũ Văn Ninh reported that to further speed up the pace of transforming public companies into joint stock ownership, the Ministry of Finance is drafting a Decree on Joint Stock Company Transformation, which aims to extend the range of companies destined for transformation into joint stock companies (incorporating State parent companies and corporations, fully State-owned limited liability companies). It also targets increased openness and transparency, as well as streamlined administrative procedures in order to fasten the process of joint stock company transformation.

Minister of Construction Nguyễn Hồng Quân revealed that his Ministry is submitting to the Government some favorable policies to offer to investors. However, Mr. Quân stressed that more drastic actions should be taken to end the current state of many national-level projects lagging behind schedule.

Minister of Education and Training Nguyễn Thiện Nhân declared that he would persistently press ahead with the movement “Say ‘NO’ to negative phenomena” on all aspects of education and training.
