French firms survey VN shipbuilding capacity

VGP - Seven French companies operating in the shipbuilding industry will visit Việt Nam from June 20 to 23 to explore the local shipbuilding market, according to the French Embassy in Hà Nội.

June 17, 2011 4:38 PM GMT+7

The French firms, including Moteurs Baudouin, Masson Marine, Marinelec, Barillec, Leroy Somer, Groupe Budd et Le Bronze Industriel, want to have better understanding of shipbuilding yards in Việt Nam, including state, private and foreign-invested ones.

They will also introduce to Vietnamese officials and enterprises their advanced technologies, equipment, services, ship designing technologies and industrial production processes.

The French business delegation, supported by the Vietnamese Ministry of Transport and the Việt Nam Federation of Mechanical Engineering Associations, will work with Vietnamese state agencies and enterprises in Hà Nội, Nam Định, Hải Phòng and Hồ Chí Minh City.

Việt Nam is striving to become a leading shipbuilder in the world by 2020.
