General Giap to rest in peace in hometown

VGP - A Viet Nam Airlines plane will transport General Vo Nguyen Giap’s coffin from Ha Noi to Quang Binh province where the former Commander-in-chief of the Viet Nam People’s Army rests in peace.

According to plan, a convoy of cars carrying the coffin will depart from the National Mourning House on October 13 and travel through major streets of Tran Thanh Tong, Trang Tien, Trang Thi, Dien Bien Phu, and Hoang Dieu where he lived for years, before heading for Noi Bai international airport.

The coffin will be taken into an ATR72 plane and transported to Dong Hoi airport the same day.

The deceased will then be transported to Vung Chua-Dao Yen island where the late General is buried.

The funeral service will begin at the National Mourning House in Hanoi at 07.30am on October 12. It will also be observed in Quang Binh province and HCM City.  

The memorial service will be held concurrently in Ha Noi, Quang Binh province and HCM City in the morning of October 13./.
