Gov’t approves 4th Protocol amending ASEAN Investment Agreement

VGP – The Government has issued Resolution No. 20/NQ-CP approving the fourth Protocol to amend the ASEAN Comprehensive Investment Agreement (ACIA).

The Ministry of Planning and Investment was assigned to take prime responsibility and coordinate with relevant ministries and agencies to carry out the Protocol.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was tasked with conducting external procedures as regulated.

The fourth Protocol, signed last April in Phuket, Thailand is expected to remove impediments to investment to bolster ASEAN’s appeal as an attractive investment destination.

The ACIA was signed on February 26, 2009 and entered into force on March 29, 2012 with the aim to create a liberal, facilitative, transparent and competitive investment environment in ASEAN by adhering to principles such as to benefit the investors and their investment based in ASEAN./.
