PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc inspects Mekong Delta Region ahead of the conference on sustainable growth in response to climate change in Mekong Delta on September 27, 2017

Specifically, on February 19, PM Phuc worked with ministerial and sectorial leaders on declining rice prices and preliminary summarization of the Government’s Resolution 120/NQ-CP on Sustainable and Climate Resilient Development of the Mekong Delta.

On February 20, he continued to chair a Government permanent meeting on measures to speed up the construction progress of Trung Luong-My Thuan Expressway.

These meetings aimed to deal with pressing issues for the potential region which is struggling with difficulties and has yet flourished in accordance with its potentials.

Regarding the problem of declining rice prices, PM Phuc noticed the importance of rice restructuring and food safety in the new era.

Meanwhile, Trung Luong-My Thuan Expresswy is of great significance as it will connect the Mekong Delta Region with HCMC and the Southern key economic hub. Hence, PM Phuc directed synchronous measures to speed up progress and put the project into operation in 2020. The Ministry of Transport and the Tien Giang provincial People’s Committee were asked to seriously implement the assignment.

PM Phuc said that the Government will inspect the implementation of Resolution 120 every two years and hold large-scale forums to seek solutions to the Mekong Delta Region. As scheduled, the Government will convene the first of its kind on May 20./.
