The Vietnamese PM stressed that the Viet Nam-Japan strategic partnership is developing strongly across the fields, particularly economic, trade and investment cooperation.

He praised Mr. Hatoyama for numerous initiatives which served to boost the bilateral ties in various areas such as manpower training and infrastructure construction. The host leader was convinced that the guest leader would make positive contribution to nurturing the bilateral ties.

In reply, Hatoyama expressed his pleasure at the robust cooperation between the two countries. He also showed interest in the building of infrastructure in the form of public-private partnership (PPP) which is being discussed by the Vietnamese National Assembly.

So far, Japan is the largest provider of ODA for Viet Nam and the second largest foreign investor in the country, as well as the fourth largest trade partner. Over 1.2 million Vietnamese and Japanese people visited each other. The Vietnamese community in Japan has numbered more than 370,000, becoming the third biggest foreign community in Japan./.
