Gov’t commits to consolidating macro-economy

VGP – PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc stressed the importance of consolidating macro-economic foundation and promoting growth amidst open economy.

The PM made the point at the Government’s regular meeting on January 31.

He assessed that in the first month of 2019, the economy had the positive trend with maintaining good growth rate. However, in the context of complicated developments in the international arena, the Government tasked all levels and agencies to avoid subjective spirit as the domestic economy is being opened largely. 

The Government chief stressed the importance of consolidating the macro-economy and pushing growth, regarding these as the most important tasks in 2019. 

“Every minister, ministerial-level leader must attach deep attention to fulfillment of your tasks,” said PM Phuc. 

The State Bank of Viet Nam was urged to regulate the monetary, interest rate, exchange rate policies in harmony with fiscal and macro policies; control inflation; stabilize the macro-economy; and boost growth. Credit must be regarded as a priority and impetus for growth. 

The Ministry of Finance was asked to tighten disciplines in State budget, investigations, and transparent disbursement of budget; and prevent tax losses.   

The Ministry of Industry and Trade is responsible for promoting export and controlling import and crafting a project on the impacts of trade disputes between the U.S. and China on Viet Nam’s FDI attraction. 

The PM tasked the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to restructure the sector and new rural building. 

The Government chief also assigned his inferiors to prepare Tet for local residents in a safe, joyful, and saving manner./.
