Gov’t demands drastic measures to fight lumpy skin disease

VGP – The Government on Monday demanded drastic and comprehensive measures to control and prevent lumpy skin disease (LSD) on buffalos and cows.

May 17, 2021 9:00 PM GMT+7

The disease was first discovered in Viet Nam in October last year and has spread to 1,622 communes of 204 districts in 29 cities and provinces nationwide.

At least 44,700 cows and buffaloes contracted the disease which is anticipated to continue spreading further in the time ahead.

The Government urged localities to well organize vaccination, early detect new disease outbreaks, and timely provide information and warnings on the diseases in order to fully stamp out the existing outbreaks and prevent new ones.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development shall time prime responsibility and coordinate with other ministries, agencies and localities in directing the import of vaccines as well as research and production of domestic vaccines.

The ministry was also tasked to coordinate with international organizations and other countries in combatting the disease./.
