Regarding the COVID-19, the Government assessed that the emergence of new COVID-19 clusters has produced strong impacts on Viet Nam’s economic recovery.

In addition, the pandemic is still evolving complicatedly worldwide, placing the economy at risk.

Against the backdrop, the whole political system has joined hands and mobilized resources to quickly address newly-emerged COVID-19 clusters, especially in Da Nang City, considering it as the central task.

Socio-economic performance in July and the first seven months were positive as evidenced by tamed inflation, industrial expansion (up 2.6% against the same period last year), and trade surplus of US$6.5 billion

For upcoming tasks, the Government assigns the Ministry of Health to promptly design a new Directive on COVID-19 responses and submit to the Prime Minister for issuance.

The ministry is responsible for ensuring sufficient medical supplies, test kits and manpower for prevention and control of the pandemic.

The Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security are tasked to tighten border control, especially at border trails while strictly punishing illegal foreigners and cracking down on those who try to bring foreigners into Viet Nam illegally.

Ministries, sectors, and localities are urged to mull over extension of support policies for those affected by COVID-19 in order to minimize negative impacts of the pandemic, accelerate disbursement of public investment as this is a key solution to economic recovery.

The Government orders development of growth scenarios for the rest of the year and report to the Government chief before August 25.
