Gov't discuss COVID-19 response scenarios, mulls over assistance for pandemic-hit groups

VGP – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired a meeting on Tuesday afternoon to discuss COVID-19 response scenarios, policies to ensure social security for the pandemic-hit subjects among other issues.

Regarding the pandemic response scenarios, the PM raised the question that in the worst situation, what the Government’s solutions will be to avoid being passive, especially in mobilizing resources.

“We do not expect such a bad case to happen, but if it happens, we must respond more proactively and drastically with the goal of protecting people’s lives and health,” he said.

PM Phuc also said social security is a very urgent issue, particularly concerning the poor and the unemployed. He urged the participants to focus on discussing the beneficiary subjects and level of support in a bid to prepare input for further discussion at the Cabinet meeting on April 1.

At the meeting, representatives from the Ministry of Health reported on the situations and levels of COVID-19 outbreaks, as well as response scenario for each of these situations./.
