October 08, 2020 3:18 PM GMT+7

The cultural space of Gongs of the Central Highlands has been preserved and upheld since its recognition as an Oral Masterpiece and Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO 15 years ago.

Specifically, the Council shall put forward orientations, strategies, and policies to protect and promote the values of cultural heritages, rank special national relics, recognize national precious objects, among others.

The Council is tasked to appraise cultural heritage dossiers submitted to the PM by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism as regulated by the Law on Cultural Heritages.

It can also comment on other issues related to cultural heritages if requested by the PM.

Members of the Council shall not exceed 27, including prestigious experts and scientists who would serve no more than two terms, if consecutive.

With rich historic sites and unique natural marvels, Viet Nam is home to 22 World Heritage Sites classified by the UNESCO. Remains of former capital cities, the entire ancient town of Hoi An, the world famous landscape of Ha Long Bay are a few jewel that attract an ever-growing number of tourists.
